Karate moves

Chase is taking karate lessons once a week at a local karate center here.  He's really enjoying it and he loves practicing his moves on daddy.  His suit is way too big but he's still cute in it.

Glow in the Dark Sand

Grandma and Grandpa sent Chase a Crayola Glow in the Dark Sand kit recently.  He helped mix the sand and pour it into the containers.  He's all excited at the beginning of a project but either Greg or myself end up finishing it because he's just too impatient to see it through to the end.  Once it was finished he couldn't wait for it to get dark so he could put them in his room and see them glow.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the fun project.

First Art Class

I decided it was time to incorporate art into our curriculum once a week so off to the art supply store I went.  Since I can only draw stick people (and I don't do that very well either) I decided to go with ready made projects.  On Thursday, Chase helped make the plaster and pour it into the moulds.  Then we let them dry overnight and on Friday he painted them.  And of course once the project was done he didn't hang around for the cleanup :-)  Now we just have to put the magnets on the back and then we can put them on the refrigerator.

The crates have arrived!

This is a picture of the stuff that was in our crate from America.  It arrived Monday morning and Chase was so excited.  

This is a picture of the stuff from our Egypt crate which arrived Tuesday morning.  I was more excited about this crate because it had our couches and chair.  We've been sitting on very uncomfortable chairs for the past two months so we were definitely happy to see our stuff being brought into the living room Tuesday morning.  This is our garage and as you can see it's packed full.  We are leaving it in the garage until we find out if we are moving now or in June.  I'm ready to unpack and get settled! 

These are Chase's toys from the American crate.  He spread everything out on the floor and played with each thing for a couple of minutes, then he moved on to the next toy.  It was really funny to watch.  

Now he wants to dig through the garage and find his toys from Egypt.  He's just going to have to wait for those toys.  I'm not searching through all those boxes just yet.  

Classroom

This is our 9th week of home school.  I thought I would post some pictures from our classroom.  Chase is working on his journal in the first two pictures.  As you can see, the room is really not that big and it's actually supposed to be a bedroom.  It's more like a closet, not a bedroom, but it's perfect for our classroom.  Every morning before we start school Chase has to tell me the classroom rules.  He can recite them, but he sure does have a hard time remembering them throughout the day :-)  After he tells me the rules then we pray and start our work.  This week is the first week that he received a star every day for good behavior.  I have seen a dramatic improvement in his reading and writing over the past few weeks. Last week he asked me to read "Green Eggs and Ham"to him.  We sat down to read and he asked if he could read it.  He read the whole book by himself (with a little help from me occasionally) without complaining and without me asking him to read!  That was a major accomplishment.
