Lucifer

A couple of months ago we were flying out of Heathrow airport and when we came up to the check-in counter something funny happened. We gave the man behind the counter our tickets. Each ticket had our first and part of our middle names on it. Well, Chase's had his name (this is before we officially changed it) which was LuisFer. So the guy said "and this is Lucifer." We both kind of chuckled when he said it. Did he really think we named our child Lucifer? I guess he did because he continued to call him that until we left the counter. Thankfully, Chase's new passport has Chase Martinez on it so we won't have that problem again!

This is WAR!

There is a cat in our neighborhood that has decided to dig up our yard every night after we go to bed. This cat is digging a huge hole and it only comes at night. Greg bought some spray that is suppose to deter cats from digging in your yard. But of course, about an hour after he sprayed the grass it rained and washed it all away. We called our local council to find out what we can do to get rid of this cat. The lady told us that they don't deal with cats. She said cats like to roam and its natural for them to dig in other peoples yards and we should just not worry about it. We didn't really like that answer so Greg decided to put down chicken wire so it can't dig anymore. So far it's working. Hopefully when Greg takes up the wire in the Spring so he can cut the grass the cat will have learned not to come to this yard.

Relaxing After Dinner

This is Chase relaxing after dinner one night this week. Where does he get this stuff from?

5 Years With Chase

5 years ago today we were in Guatemala signing our last paper so that we could bring Chase home. These past five years have flown by. We are so very thankful that the Lord brought Chase into our family. Mommy and Daddy love you Chase!

Harrod's Department Store

Saturday we went to Harrod's Department Store with friends.  These bears were for sale but I'm trying to figure out who has the room for them?  We were going to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, but it was so crowded that they were not allowing anyone else to go in.  Maybe we will try that next week when it's not so busy.  Chase really wants to try ice skating and that's definitely the place to try it.  Hopefully we will have some pics soon of all of us ice skating, or I should say Chase and Greg ice skating and me struggling to stay on my feet!

Advent Calendar

Chase decided that we needed to have a Super Hero Advent calendar this year.  He took all his action figures and stuck them in the slots and then presented it to us when he was finished.  This boy cracks us up!

Chase with Friends

These are a few pics of Chase with some friends while we were in France.  The boy in the first three pictures is Chase's friend Levi.  They were inseparable for the week that we were there.  They both really enjoyed riding the horses and I think they would have stayed on them longer if they could have.

Chase Reading at OneTrueMedia.com

Make a video - it's fun, easy and free!

Chase's reading has improved greatly over the past few weeks.  When we first started home school in January Chase had to sound out almost every word.  We are so proud of how much he has improved and he's pretty proud of himself too!

Safari In Kenya

Make a video - it's fun, easy and free!

We went to Kenya recently and while we were there we took 2 days to go on a safari.  I don't mind camping when I have someone come in to turn down the bed and put a hot water bottle under the covers to keep my feet warm!  Thanks to our friend BH who shared some of his awesome pics with us!

Chase Running

Fair Day

Yesterday we went to a "fair" that was close to our house.  Chase climbed the climbing wall, rode the mechanical bull, ran several races and jumped in the bouncy castle.  And even after all that, he was still full of energy!

Weather Vane

Last week's science project was to make a weather vane.  We also made a chart so that we can track the wind direction and how strong/weak it is each day for one week.  This morning we went out in the back garden and it was quite windy.  It was hard to tell which way the wind was actually blowing, but we decided it was mostly blowing NE and it was strong!  Chase has really enjoyed studying the weather.  This week's project is to make a volcano that erupts.  Stay tuned for pics (hopefully)!

Karate

Today I took Chase to his karate class. Since we moved we switched to a karate class that is closer to our new apartment.   Today they did sparing, which Chase likes because he gets to use the batons to hit people.

Aquarium, Westminster and Big Ben

We took a trip to the aquarium as an early birthday present for Chase.  Directly across the street is Westminster and Big Ben.

Chase's 6th birthday

Chase's birthday was yesterday.  He woke up at 6:15 ready to open his presents.  He got lots of PSP games, posters for his wall (superhero posters), and a Spiderman and Venom action figure.  Since it was his birthday we let him play the PSP all day and he literally played from 7:00 a.m. until 8:45 p.m!  He normally only gets to play on the weekends and usually just a couple of hours, not the whole day.  But, that's what he wanted to do for his birthday so that's what he did.

1st Grade Books

Last week Chase's 1st grade homeschool books came in the mail.  As you can see, we will be quite busy this year.  Anyone who thinks homeschool is a vacation should really try it sometime.  It really is a lot of work!

Pictures of Our New Apartment

We moved to a new apartment June 1st.  There are approximately 100 apartments on our street, and this is typical of most streets here.  Enjoy the pics!
